Chief Executive Officer

As CEO, Jane provides overall leadership directing the client experience across everything we do at Sand Hill Advisors. Jane is a co-founder of the company and helped build Sand Hill Advisors into the successful firm it is today. Jane serves on the executive committee and provides guidance on policy, client service, strategic direction, and business development.

Through her work with individuals in transition, and particularly women in transition, Jane has created a legacy of expertise at Sand Hill Advisors helping clients untangle complexities and navigate through major life transitions. Jane is recognized as an expert in helping individuals and couples in transition and she works closely with family law specialists (lawyers, mediators, advisors) who serve clients experiencing major wealth transitions.

Jane has over thirty years of experience in the investment field. Prior to co-founding Sand Hill Advisor’s predecessor firm in 1982, Jane was a Registered Representative with Merrill Lynch. She originally joined Merrill in 1974 and has the distinction of being the first woman hired in a professional role within the Merrill Lynch system headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario. Before joining Merrill Lynch she held the position of Economist with the Economic Council of Canada, where she co–authored a book on banking innovation.

Jane holds a degree in Economics from Boston University where she was selected to be a member of the Economics Honor Society. Jane serves on the Board of Directors of the Silicon Valley Foundation. Jane is also a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum – Silicon Valley and is a member of the Investment Committee of the Board of Avenidas. Jane is also a Trustee of the University of California Santa Barbara Foundation. In 2005 and 2006, Jane was listed as one of the 100 Most Influential Business Women in the San Francisco Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times.

President and Chief Operating Officer

As president and COO, Jim is responsible for setting long-term strategic direction and providing management oversight of the firm. Jim was recruited to join Sand Hill Advisors in January 2005 and brings with him over twenty five years of financial services experience, management expertise, and executive leadership. As president, Jim works closely with each team to ensure that company and individual goals, policies, and procedures are aligned with our client standards and our company mission, vision, and strategy.

As a member of the executive committee, Jim provides leadership and direction on organizational excellence, client experience, operational expertise, compliance, performance measurement, and financial oversight. Jim is responsible for driving alignment across all core functions of the company.

Jim joined Sand Hill Advisors from LPL Financial Services, where he was Vice President of Finance. Prior to LPL, Jim executive positions at Charles Schwab Corporation, including Senior Vice President & COO of Corporate and Executive Services and Senior Vice President & CFO of Schwab Institutional. Jim graduated from Southern Oregon University with a BS in Business Administration & Mathematics in 1978.

Chief Wealth Management Officer

Jane joined the firm in 1984 as a Portfolio Manager and has been instrumental in the development and growth of the company. As Chief Wealth Management Officer, Jane is a member of the executive committee and provides leadership and dedication to our team of professional advisors. Jane continues to work directly with Sand Hill’s clients providing them with wealth management advice and investment guidance. Previous to joining Sand Hill Advisors, Jane worked for 10 years in banking, first with Wells Fargo Bank and then as Vice President and Commercial Lending Officer with The Bank of California in San Francisco.

Jane has served on the Planned Giving Council of the Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, on the Advisory Board of the Peninsula Chapter of the Financial Women’s Association, on the Professional Advisory Council of the Peninsula Community Foundation, and as a volunteer in the Menlo Park School District. She is currently on the Board of Directors of Adolescent Counseling Services, an organization that serves the needs of adolescence in the community. Jane holds a B.A. degree in Business from John F. Kennedy University.
